About Elsthorpe School

We are hidden away by native trees, with kereru gliding through our grounds, in an amazing setting 25 minutes from Waipukurau and 30 minutes from Havelock North.

Our Year 1 – 8 children learn in a wonderful rural/coastal environment which they care dearly for. They experience a variety of opportunities, from taking part in Pet Days to searching for sea creatures on the beach, to viewing the amazing exhibits at Te Papa Museum. Elsthorpe students are kind and caring, have a love of learning, are brave and have every opportunity to experience success. They will leave Elsthorpe socially and emotionally well-rounded, connected to their rural environment and have the skills and broad knowledge base to be able to adapt to an ever-changing world.

Our diligent, caring staff have a range of talents they share with our students in the classroom, on stage, in the garden and on the sports field.

We are supported by a committed, hard-working community who ensure our children have every opportunity to learn and take part in activities outside Elsthorpe. We are proud of all our children’s achievements, but having the top two school hockey teams in CHB was definitely a highlight for us.

We welcome any prospective families who would like to come and visit us so we can show you the wonderful place that is Elsthorpe School. See you soon.
